Lufthansa unveils new livery as part of brand revamp

A new aircraft livery has been unveiled by Lufthansa as part of a revamped brand image.

The new design initially features on a Boeing 747-8 and an Airbus A321 in the first change of livery in 30 years.

Against the backdrop of digitalization and changing customer requirements, Lufthansa recognised that the company needed to modernise the aircraft appearance in order to remain up to date, the airline said.

The revamp covers staff uniforms through to on board items such as tableware, amenity kits, blankets and pillowcases. Around 160 million items will be exchanged over the next two years.

The Lufthansa brand launch marks the start of a new #SayYesToTheWorld brand campaign and comes on the back of ther German group investing €2 billion a year in new, fuel efficient aircraft.

Chairman Carsten Spohr said: “Lufthansa has changed and is more modern and successful than ever. From now on, this will also be visible to the public through a new design.

“The crane [emblem] has always been with us and clearly stands for the promising performance from Lufthansa. To this day, it still stands as a symbol of highest quality, excellent service, flying expertise, reliability, innovative spirit; and it stands for trust.”
