Liverpool John Lennon airport completes terminal improvements

Liverpool John Lennon airport has completed the final phase of £5 million terminal improvements ahead of the summer peak travel period.

The phased work has been carried out over 18 months covering an area within the departure lounge of around 2,000 square metres.

The latest £2 million section involves the expansion and redesign of the World Duty Free retail area and the addition of a Traveller fashion store.

Works completed last year saw the introduction of a number of new retail brands, shops, bars and restaurants and refurbishment of the upper floor of the airport’s departure lounge.

Thirteen new flight information screens were also installed.

The improvements have created more than 50 new jobs over the past 18 months.

Airport commercial director Lucy O’Shaughnessy said: “These latest improvements have been completed just in time as we enter the busiest part of the year for the airport, with hundreds of thousands of passengers expected to pass through during the busy summer months.

“Having listened carefully to our passengers, we now believe we have passenger facilities here at Liverpool which are up there with the best of any UK regional airport.”
